Fausto Bongelli studied with Martha Del Vecchio and Bruno Canino, and is a soloist for and collaborator with important musical associations including Torino Piccolo Regio, the Neapolitan Musical Accademy, Messina Philarmonic Laudamo, Florence Toscana Musica, Milan Teatro delle Erbe, Festival of Valle d'Itria, Friends of Castel sant'Angelo in Rome, Musical Youth of Italy and the Music Societies of Ancona, Campobasso, Taranto, Ragusa and others.

Respected as an important interpreter of New Music, he devotes himself to modern works with a special cultural interest and effort. Working directly with composers such as Chailly, De Pablo, Donatoni, Di Bari, Manzoni, Mencherini, Sciarrino, Schuller and Stroppa, Bongelli has presented works in major festivals including: XXI Aspekte Festival at Salisburg Mozarteum, Würzburg Hochscule, Meeting with the composer at Madrid, University of Leon, Angelica at Bologna, Rassegna di Nuova Musica at Macerata, New Italian Music of Rome and the Europa Festival, among others.

A decade of fruitful collaboration with Fernando Mencherini, whose piano pieces were dedicated to Bongelli, deeply influenced his musical training, freed him from old cultural habits and continually pushed forward his programs distinguished by their originality. Bongelli's repertory is the fruit of curiousity and research ranging the whole literature for piano. For this reason he aims at crossing boundaries and avoiding narrow specialization. Here, the piano he plays is a Broadwood built in London in 1825.

Bongelli's solo concerts dedicated to Sciarrino, Cowell, Messiaen and Rzewski were especially important. He has performed tours in Austria, Germany and Spain. Several performance of his were broadcasted by RAI, Radio Nacional de España and Radio Saarbrücken, and he has recorded for the Bongiovanni, Edipan, Iktius, RCA and Ricordi record labels.
