Marianne Schuppe Select Discography
Marianne Schuppe was born in Göttingen, Germany and lives now in Basel, Switzerland. After studying visual arts and music in Germany (1979-82), she took singing lessons with Raajeswari Padmarabha in Madras in 1983. Between 1988 and 2003 she studied with Michiko Hirayama in Rome and received essential knowledge about Scelsi's music from her. Marianne Schuppe tours internationally with contemporary and improvised music. Besides the music of Scelsi she performs "Three Voices" by Morton Feldman and premiered music by Caroline Wilkins, Alfred Zimmerlin, Michal Maierhof a.o. She has performed "Pranam I" with Klangforum Wien and Sauh I-IV with the Mela Quartett. For many years she has written and worked in music-theatre contexts in collaboration with visual artists. She teaches in Switzerland, Germany and Japan.
